Etoricoxib Tablets are indicated for managing pain, swelling, and inflammation. These are associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and gout in individuals over the age of 16. Additionally, it can be used to alleviate moderate pain following dental procedures. Osteoarthritis involves the deterioration of the tissue that supports the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the immune system attacks its tissue, resulting in joint pain and inflammation. Ankylosing spondylitis is characterized by inflammation of the spine and larger joints. Gout presents with pain and inflammation in the joints due to the accumulation of uric acid crystals.

How Do Etoricoxib Tablets Work?

Etoricoxib Tablets contain the active ingredient etoricoxib. It functions by inhibiting the release of a chemical messenger known as prostaglandin, produced by COX-2, that plays a role in pain, swelling, and inflammation. Etoricoxib targets the affected area and specifically addresses the site of pain. One advantage of COX-2 inhibitors is that they help protect the stomach lining from the ulcerogenic effects associated with other analgesics, such as ibuprofen and aspirin.

Directions For Use and Its Side Effects

Etoricoxib Tablets is available in tablet form. Take the oral version of Etoricoxib as directed by your healthcare provider. Some common side effects of Etoricoxib include abdominal pain, dry socket, leg swelling, dizziness, headaches, palpitations (rapid heartbeat), elevated blood pressure, shortness of breath, constipation, gas, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining), heartburn, diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), nausea, vomiting, esophageal inflammation, mouth sores, general weakness, and flu-like symptoms (fever, cold, cough, or sore throat).

Precautions To Be Taken

Avoid taking Etoricoxib Tablets if you are allergic to etoricoxib, other pain medications, or any of the components. Inform your physician if you have a history of ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, serious liver and/or kidney issues, colitis (inflammation of the large intestine), uncontrolled hypertension, or cardiovascular conditions such as chest pain, heart attack, heart failure, or stroke. This medication should not be used by individuals under 16, those who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Notify your doctor if you are dehydrated (due to vomiting or diarrhea), have edema (swelling from fluid retention), have an infection, have diabetes (high blood sugar), have high cholesterol, are a smoker, or are over the age of 65.
